In the world of comparisons, it seems like there’s always someone better. In the Book of Mormon, it would have been easy for Sam to compare himself to his brother Nephi, who was a prophet and leader. But here’s how Sam reacted instead:
1. Sam was believing. He chose to believe the words of his brother, Nephi, and he acted on those beliefs.
2. Sam was humble. Laman and Lemuel were not happy that their younger brother, Nephi, was becoming a leader over them. But Sam was humble about it. He supported Nephi.
3. Sam was patient. He went through some hard times. Laman and Lemuel even hit him with a rod, like they hit Nephi! Sam patiently endured his trials.
4. Sam was blessed. He may not have been a leader or prophet, but he still faithfully followed Jesus Christ, and he was blessed for it.
